Pedro Rivera He started photography and sell cassettes in Huntington Park, California. He dreamed of becoming a singer, and although he achieved that dream, destiny made his tape in a different way in a different way: disclosing talents who have yet begun and need exposure. It was the case for four iron artists who would continue to become the main stars in Regional Mexican music: Chalino Sanchez, Elizalde Valentineand two of his children, Lupillo and Jenni Rivera.
Г. Pedro had an idea to record them with local bands by renting a study. Like this Aquarium tapes He was born in the late 1980s that, without any formal facilities, he gained a reputation thanks to his founding opinion for the promotion and marketing of his artist distribution to small shops in the area and in Tijuana, through the Mexican border.
“The first artist I recorded was Graciela Beltran”, the story of Rivera Spanish Bilbord in an exclusive interview. “We’ve been charged between $ 40 and $ 45 on the show, but we sold at least 100 cassettes. There was a profit.”
With the singer of Rancher and Banda, he launched in 1988. year, Rivera became very popular. So he caught the attention of Chalino Sanchez, singers and lyrics of poems adapted to Corridos.
“Our first meeting was at the Huntington Pacific Boulevard, at the home store owned by my friend Anthony Prajin. (His son) George (Prajin)which is now a PESO manager, was just a child. They were not involved in music, but they sold records and cassettes. Chalino would bring them boxes of 100 and left them by consignment, just like with Graciel, “he says.
The executive director of music shares these and other memories only a few days after publishing “Rigo Campos” cooperation Between the late Chalino Sancheza and Los Tucanes de Tijuane has enabled technology for more than 30 years after Chalin’s murder. This song is the first in a series of postholic collaborations from the so-called “king of corridors” that Cintas Acuario expects to be released for the coming months.
Rivera also shared plans to do the same with other legends, including Jenny River and Valentin Elizalde. Says more with Bilbord About Cintas Acuario and his future plans below.
Why your own types of own SUGS Chalino Sanchezo?
Chalino was a free spirit. He wrote Corridos on request and recorded others that he liked it, but he wanted to become more famous and promoted his work. It was used to record a series of 15 songs. I wanted to pair him with the band to follow him, but since they had a saxophone, he didn’t like it. He said they sounded like Los Tigres Del Norte, and he wanted something more authentic, so he did it his way. I made up for him for the group hired and studio costs, and he gave me my Lord of Seta Pesam. It’s mine because I bought it. So we made a deal. We really appreciated and respected each other. He was one of the most loyal people I’ve ever met – the man of his word.
How did Chalino Sanchez find success on Aquarius strips?
Nobody accepted him at the beginning of his career. The only place he let him sing a restaurant called Los Guamuchilenos, where he played the band and gave him a chance. The first time I tried to promote him was with “Flor Margarita”, which I wrote. I took it to Radio Express, and the developer, Pablo Carrillo, told me he would be fired if he had played it because Chalino sang weird. His style was different and that is exactly what we need to ask that the artist stands out.
In your opinion, what did Chalino Sanchez make such a legendary artist during time?
Chalino Sanchez is the only idol to stay forever. Was a natural star. He never wanted to be a singer; He wrote Corridosa and sold them – but people started asking him to film them and that happened. That’s why everything he did was in her unique style. He started selling a box of 100 cassettes, and then it became thousands. We would create a cassette cover, left them in stores and would sell because more people were listening to more. People played his music in their cars. Thus the legend was born.
There was a dispute with Chalin’s widows because of the right to his music. Is that solved?
His wife tried to take music belonging to me. We have documents to prove ownership and thanks to that, we went to the notebook where Challin’s signature was checked and had to accept that the material was mine. That’s why the dismissal delayed – the song “Rigo Campos” should have come out a year ago. There was also a situation where Los Tucanes de Tijuan had Corrido related to another company, but it was solved, and everything was together to come to release.
You can say that you played a role in the regional history of Mexican music …
I am a precision regional Mexican music in the 1990s, especially “Corridos de Valientes” (Brave or Heroic Touchboys). I need to mention that I’m the only one to record the duet with Chalin while he was alive. Was called “If the funeral sing me. “I left my career as a singer, but God gave me the opportunity to discover other great stars like Lupillo River, Valentine Elizalde and Jenny Rivera.
Do you have anecdotes about these other stars?
With Valentin Elizalde, I had the same experience as at Chalino – many people did not like his style. (La Kue Buena) Radio hosts Pepe Garza told me Valentin couldn’t sing, so he didn’t accept him. I left very sad. Four or five months later, Pepe announced the promotion he said, “La Kue Buena, Dom Valentin Elizalde.” When Valentin passed away, he even wanted to make a series about him.
As for my children, I can say that they earned everything with hard work. Lupillo was a sales manager in Cintas Acuario, while Jenni handled the welcome songs and registration of songs for our publishing company. They were very committed to their work because they dreamed of becoming singers. Their first options performed at the place called Lido in Long Beach (California). So they started performing in front of the audience, even if it was only 20 people.
In addition to Chalin’s material, you have music from Jenny and Valentine also. Are there planned to do anything with that?
Yes. My son Juan Rivera is in charge of all these projects. He works on the next duets with the other Chalin’s songs – we want to show top artists. The same will happen to the music we have from Valentin Elizalde and, of course, Jenni’s material from Cintas Acuario.
In 82 years and with so many achievements in your life, what motivates you to keep working?
Since I had to pay for rent to support my children, I got up at 02:30 to work. Cintas Acuario is still open for talents who want to give themselves their name. In the last eight years, I have Luis Ponce on my team, which is a great manufacturer and excellent associate. We have and Podcast knownWhere we give advice to new talents who want to start their career in music.
