A few years ago, I built a Campervana from Ford Transit Connect. My goal when designing was “Replacing the tent”, not “no” life in the circle “. As such, I just included ways to keep the windows open and no error At night, plus a small, USB drive fan. However, I am a victim of my own success, as I loved to use that I want adventures in warmer and colder weather and environments. The Ecoflow Wave 3 It looked like perfect fix.
Wave 3 is a portable heat pump, which allows you to align or reduce the temperature in a small space like a van or tent. This is not one of those cheap thermoelectric (peltier) heat pumps that offer only a few degrees differences from the ambience. The internal wave 3 is a compressor such as full-size air conditioning. It was rated for 6,100 BTUs cooling and 6,800 BTU heating (which will cover about 120-180 square feet). It is about the same as you would get from small, cheap, indisputable, air conditioning in windows style.
Anyway crucial, for my construction, there is optional 1,024-WAT-clock battery battery. You can power the wave 3 via standard alternating plug if your van has a converter. This feature means you can use your wave 3 at home, if necessary. For my building, it was easier to fill the optional wave battery 3 through my solar panels and batteries and let it power wave 3. Although it is transferable, it still attracts a lot of power. More than my adjustment could be delivered without re-application.

My experience with ecoflow wave 3
I had to redesign the look of my outside to fit and secure the last seat (I’ve never used) and built a turning of the bed, I actually saved 34.9 kilograms, despite the wave 3 and battery adding 55.1 kilograms. Colin Chapman It would be proud.

Wave 3 requires at least one pipe to open air out. It helps to imagine a unit as two separate heat cycles associated with a large plastic body. In the sending end, the air enters through a vertical opening. This goes through the radiator and get hotter or colder, depending on the desired temperature. In the opposite end, the opposite process occurs. Get in the air, passes through another radiator and hot air (when cooling) or cold air (when heating) comes out to the top as “exhaust”. Obviously you don’t want this air to mix with your living space, so you have to start one of the included in harmonious pipes.
For my adjustment I cut a piece of corrugated plastic sheets to put through the window to the sliding door with the side travelers. In that, I cut the hole of the opening size. All this slide in space slightly open window, sealed (-Ie) against errors. The pipe is long enough to open the door without bold.

Setup for one pipe is certainly the easiest, but there is another option. Included in Wave 3 is a different tube that is mounted on entry “exhaust” side of the unit. Instead of taking air from your living space, heating or cooling and sending a wave, Val 3 will pull the air from the outside to be used on the compressor side, and then send this air back outside.
This is generally more efficient because it is with a single-pipe adjustment, you create a slight negative pressure inside your life area because you send part of that air outside. This negative pressure drags hot (or cold) air from outside any available dish or click. However, at least in my adjustment, the second pipe would be a significant hassle. I think there is no real or wrong answer here, more what works best for your setting and space.

There are keys on the front of the wave 3 that allows you to control the temperature and other functions, but there is also an application. Since the wave is 3 smaller than the centimetum of my bed, my app seems superfluous for me, but for your setting, if the unit is out or otherwise in the easy reach, the application seems convenient.
To test wave 3, I’ve visited Kings Canyon National Park in California. Although it was too late spring, the weather was feeling more like the beginning of the summer. So, instead of warming, I have cooled the van to perfect temperature. While Temp was great, the battery drain was more than I expected. Ecoflow says “to eight hours,” but it seems really optimistic. Perhaps if it doesn’t work a lot of work, just a few degrees of Temp settings, I might be able to see eight hours, but I think half it would be more likely, at least with my adjustment.
While I have 2,400 watt-hours of batteries in my van, it is made for a continuous lot of loads like a light and refrigerator, not intensely pulling waves 3. While it will slowly fill the EcOflow battery, cannot manage the system. So I’m not convinced I could get full eight hours of cooling if it was especially hot outside. Again, your setup could be different, but I wouldn’t expect eight hours for most situations.
I’d plan for a night at Death valley To test you exactly, but I missed the window and there was a summer before I had the opportunity. I didn’t believe Ecoflow was running all night, keeping a reasonable temperature, when there was over 100 degrees F even in 3 instead, I used to hold her inside cool. When heating and occasionally, when cooling, condensation within waves 3 requires water disposal from the internal tank. It is included for a small hose. Since I didn’t do much heating except to see if it did, I don’t know how often it would be necessary. By default, this does not automatically, so it will not leak on your floor. My plan for this winter is to bring an empty bottle of water and let it dry there at night if necessary.

And in the end, I saw online some people using wave 3 Keep the inside of your vehicle cool for your dogs while absent and do other things. There is even a pet care regime. This is such a terrible idea. If anything goes wrong (it is an electronic product, there are infinite things that could go wrong), you have a dead pet. Don’t do that.

From reading other criticisms online, both professional and campers and VanlifersI think the main question with wave 3 is excessively optimistic expectations. In a well-insulated and armed van, the wave 3 could allow the ambient temperature quite. Probably not enough to sit inside during the day in the Death Valley, but enough to allow a comfortable dream if it is still 80-plus degrees outside. In a minimally isolated van or tent, the result will be far less impressive. It is just physics of the device of this size and, so, how heat transfer works. Will smoking cool or hot air over the body in a hot or cold tent? Yes. Will it make it a tent all year round without other considerations? It won’t.
I paid $ 1,200 for my wave 3, including the battery, which was considered much that I spent only about $ 5,000 by adding solar, refrigerator, battery and so on my van. That’s said, I’m more confident I can go into some adventures well in the season I would never intend for my van. Alaska in February or Death Valley in August? No, but there are plenty of options that are not exactly the extremes that I can normally cannot do and now I want it. Assuming that Wave 3 lasts several years, it is not bad investment.
As long as you keep in mind that there can be no miracles of thermodynamics and can help cool and heat, but a full-size increase, a lot of HVAC, wave 3 should help your van or a tent for a bit more comfortable in multiple seasons.
Last thing: The price of waves 3 fell from when I bought it, but the price of the battery seems to have increased. It is worth watching out for sale and offers.
