Acer announces new quick air 16 on IFA 2025, and it is an absolute feather of a 16-inch laptop. Weighing in 2.18 kilograms / 0.99 kg with IPS display or 2.43 kilograms / 1.1 kg with optional OLED, fast air is easier than even a 13-inch MacBook Air. It also packs multiple ports from the MacBook and will start at a lower price of 999 € when it is launched in November. (North American Availability and Prices are still TBD.)
Somehow I was blurted to me that my quick air 16 becomes this big screen in such a light package because it is even lighter than LG gram – The laptop is defined by its ease. But the reality of checks begin to come to notice some of the Swift specification, like its thickness of 0.63 inches / 15.9 mm (0.65 inches / 16.5 mm for the OLED version). In contrast, MacBook MacBook 13- and 15 inches are only 0.44 inches and 0.45 inches, respectively.
Also, while the quick planes of AMD Rizen AI will be more than responsible for everyday productivity tasks, I saw them first hand that Apple’s M4 Chip exceeds them during maintaining a better battery life. The starting of the AIT air rod will come with Rizen AI 5 330 chip, and the upper version uses Rizen AI 7 350. I tested the last chip no later than Framework laptop 13 And it is very capable, even for the touch of light.
But parts of fast air 16 that give me the biggest break are its HDMI specification and battery size. It has a decent port selection with two USB-C, one USB 3.2 and 3.5 mm audio connection, but its video-out port is HDMI 1.4. It is very obsolete for 2025. year, when you expect if any 1,000-dollar laptop is driving to drive an external monitor to 4K / 60Hz or more. HDMI 1.4 can only do 4K on a sub-par 24 or 30Hz.
And while the IPS displays of Swift IPS has a respective resolution of 1920 x 1200 to 60Hz and optional OLED sports 2880 x 1800 with 120Hz refresh, the laptop battery is only 50VH. It is a smaller capacity of a 13-inch MacBook Air and much smaller than 75V batteries in Acer Swift 14 AI I’ve tested earlier this year. The 14-inch hilly cousin has a great battery life for a machine that is a sports AMD more hungry chips with hungry chips, and a large battery was a big reason why. Aker’s own promotional materials Rate Swift 14 AI to “up to 27 hours of battery life” in video playback test. Rated air battery life 16 in similar video playback tests? Just 13 hours – less than half. Ouch.
Oh, and did you notice the keyboard without the ridge of air?
I’ve already knocked a lot of holes in a hull of speedy air 16 before even took my maiden trip. But I still are interested in seeing how to hold and I hope it will land on our shores here in the US. Despite my worries, it is an intriguing machine. And I’m all for a company that takes some chances. But the appointment of your laptop “Air” will draw inevitable comparisons.
