Dolby announced Dolby Vision 2, an updated and upgraded version of its owner HDR format found in several of our guides for it Best Televisions 2025. The most important events include, well, a promise of better expirations, plus easier reproduction and other improvements.
But don’t worry – your TV won’t go dark. This is not a format replacement. In fact, if your TV is Dolby Vision compatible, you should not notice any changes. The DV2 brings several upgrades behind the cuzal on the production page, along with changes to new TVs that will wear Dolby Vision 2. These updates can be quite interesting, as I will explain below.
Since it was just announced, we only got basic information, but we will talk about it more as we start getting hands on TV2 compatible TVs.
Dolby Vision 2
On the heart of the DV2 is a “redesigned and even more powerful motor image”. What does that mean it is not quite clear, but it seems that the idea that has exploited how brighter and more capable TVs became since the Dolby Vision was first. DV2 seems to be designed to use that larger performance with new tons mappingamong other improvements. “Authentic movement”
One of the things I contempted on new TVs and projectors is the smoothing of movement, aka The The effect of soap opera. “Hate” doesn’t even cover it – and I’m not alone. It is a bastard of technology, and I honestly cannot understand why someone would enjoy. Yet people do it, so what should I know? Now, with DV2’s function of authentic film movements, the Dolby is pushed outside the HDR boundaries:

Authentic movement It is charged as the first world tool for controlling creative movement management, designed to become scenes to feel more cinematographic without an unwanted judge, adapts based on a shot-hike.
I reached to Dolby for clarification about it because he made his hair at the back of the neck in it. Company answer: “(Authentic movement allows creative) to adjust the amount of de-judges for certain recordings or scenes that are best to pass. It only takes shots and only in the amount that they require that only needed.” This means that the director will be able to choose add Smoothing to certain scenes if they think it is necessary. I hope it also means that it will completely disable if the TV already has. We will have to see how it is implemented. To be clear, this is just an option in DV2 – which means that the director or creatively enabled you and that the DV2 is a compatible TV for it. So put down the simultaneous forces (for now).

Dolby Vision 2 comes in two tastes: Dolby Vision 2 Max, intended for top-quality Vision 2, or “Vanilla”, which continues to include content intelligence and a new motor image, designed for major TVs.
Tl; Dr. (conveniently at the bottom): Dolby Vision 2 is on the way. It will be on new TVs, will not affect the current and could lead to a higher content of Dolby Vision, because new creative tools make it easier.
Tenderness will be the first to be offered on the TV with DV2 in some upcoming Mini-ice. Other companies are likely to follow. Expect to see the crowd announced at CES in January 2026.
