Last month, Clayton Kershaw did something he only did seven times earlier and did not make it from the first month in the 2023 season. Years. Hell, it’s something that only done once from the end of 2017. Kershav won five games in the calendar month. What is extraordinarily for his age and the way he went to it.
Kershav first won five games on his return in August, 2011 – long before 14 years. If this was put in perspective, the average length of career of baseball baseball basebal was Less than 11 years. Return in 2011, Kershav threw 46.1 innings, had almost a 4/1 strike for a coefficient walk and found at 1.55 era.
Veliki Lefty did it again – twice – in 2014. It was Swipe Timer for him for years, because he also won CI MVP and MVP. In June, he left 6-0 – record, even for him – throwing 44 innings and hit 61 while walking only four. There was 0.82 era during the month. But we didn’t finish. He went 5-0 in September, with 1.95 era.
As a side, let’s get off just calendar months and look at this run in 2014. From 2. Juneclip Through the end of the year: 18-1; 163 atmosphere written; 123 hits, 25 wareed tapes are allowed; 193 distances in relation to 24 walks; 1.38 ERA (1.80 FIP); and 69% of the percentage of the strike to almost 2,200 plots.
Or this one from May to September 2017: 12-0; 106 atmosphere set; 70 hits; 20 wareed strips are allowed; 131 Strike against 21 walks; 1.70 era; and 68% of the percentage of strike over more than 1,000 pitches.
Ok, back in certain months. In September 2015. it went 5-1 with 1.84 era.
He chose right in May 2016. year, he crossed 5-0, characterizing a total of five runs, striking 65 against two walks in 49.2 innings.
June 2017. was a somewhat foot on its standards: 5-0; 40.1 innings; 11 passages are allowed in seven homers; 5.7 punches in a walk and 2.23 era rate.
He took almost six-year-old hyatus to prone to injuries and age and global pandemic, and then went 5-1 in April 2023. year, with 1.89 era.
We all know that Kersaw did not skip desolation of age. He missed last year’s world series with two lower-body injuries that both needed off-season operations. Between distance number 2,000 and 3,000, made no less than Ten travel to Il. His workload has changed. His throwing style has changed. His Access to the game has changed. Still, he holds the ball every fifth day and understand ways to retire.
In the first seven cases, where Kershav won five games in the month, on average 603 pitches. When he finished Feat in August in August, it was only dropped by 395. According to the optats:
But they are changing more, the more they remain the same. Of these 395 pitches in August, almost 66% hit. And while it is the lowest percentage of impacts in eight different months in which he won at least five games, a man regularly lives between 67-71% ( MLB average is 64%). Man simply pound zone.
But the more things change, the more they change. This is Kershaw 18in Big League Season. He led the League of three different times and stressed 301 barracks in 2015. before August, the lowest number of KS accumulated in the month of fifth wine was 39 (in 2011. years). As mentioned above, 65 in May 2016 emphasized. Years. But this year he abolished a total of 19 – the lowest amount of more than two factors. Still, he managed to beat those games with 1.88 era – the best of it is awful at nine years ago.
In July, Kershav became 20in Member The 3,000 Snike Souction Club. He did it in the night where only three white batters were cheered. And yet he managed to call six innings, he only walked a single dough and put his team into the position to win, which was all he ever really worried.
Kershaw was hone if it would be his final season or not. Many guessed it would be, but we heard that before. He undoubtedly likes his teammates, he obviously loves Dodgers, and he resists to compete. And when you still can win five games in one month at the age of 37 (when Justin Velander could win three all season), it may not be so easy to say goodbye. But whatever next year is holding, we should understand all of the biggest left-handed pitchers to ever eat a gum.
