The first game of highly expected seasons for Tekas Tech took place on Saturday Jones AT & T Stadiumresulting in a 67-7 victory Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Red Raiders used what they saw in the defense early and much accumulated points before half, not allowing the gold lions to the fourth quarter.
The Line of Defense for Technology was one of the biggest speakers about this off-season, with players like David Bailey, Hunter on the hunter, Romello Heightand Skiler Gill-Howard. Together with big names in advance in defense, the latest offensive threats, such as Reggie Virgil and Terrance CarterThey also created even more excitement around this season. Carter and Gill Howard talked to the media on Saturday after the victory to talk about her first game at the Jones AT & T Stadium, what they saw from their teams and more.
With Carter and Gill-Howard, both of the minor conferences, both admitted not to use in home crowds like Red Raiders fans, and it was an incredible experience for both.
“The atmosphere was only absolutely amazing. To sell home game, I’ve never had a career before,” Gill-Howard said. “I experienced such crowds, but never because of the domestic game, so fans come out and support us, it just means a lot.”
“I can say I definitely loved that,” Carter said. “I’ve never brought up the crowd. Most people I had was like 21,000, so I just see the atmosphere and how many people came to support that it really turned out, and how much they care about Lubbock.”
With any first game in the season, nothing will be perfect or exactly how you want each game. However, Tech showed a lot of positive signs tonight, but it will continue to improve in every aspect of the game of the week after the week.
“I’d say for me that it’s just all the basics. It’s just the beginning,” Carter said. “I’m just working on all the aspects of my game. There really is no correct thing I work on. I really work on everything.”
“As a defense, I feel like we were rally efficient in third place, keeping them schedules, but obviously things we had to clean,” Gill-Howard said. “I think just communicate like we work and continue to play together and trust each other be okay.”
What many players said that everything is offsecond that they are just ready to play another opponent. After all the hype and anticipation, they had to go out and play as if they knew how and prices were. Not only do they all love them where they are already, but they will still be better.
“I think we all just accept pressure. Actually, they don’t really talk about it,” Carter said. “It’s just time to get him out on the screen, but I think we did it tonight.”
“I mentioned (Pregame Hudball) to the crowd, fans. I was like” look around. Be thankful and be blessed because we will not return this, and when the watch hit zero, and when he said that the clock said. “Just that everyone is based and only grateful at the moment, because one day, football will be finished for all of us. As long as we stay for what is ahead of us, that’s what I told them to tell them that they understand it.”
