Tuucanes de Tijuana, Chalino Sanchez Together on ‘Rigo Campos’

August.

Spanish Bilbord: What are the origin of “Rigo Campos”?

Quintero: The song is based on a well-known event in Tijuana, I think it was around 1991. years. It was almost much talking about news And in Mexico and back, we just started, and even today, I make inspiration from real events. I wrote a song and has become popular locally. I used to go to shoot stores to check new editions and see if someone took one of my songs. One day, I was surprised to find a song on Chalino Sanchez Cassette. I remember to open it and see him deserved him as the author. My excitement immediately turned to disappointment. He turns out to hear him from us, we liked and filmed Cintas Acuario. The song is already registered, so we cleaned everything.

How was this special cooperation?

Juan Rivera (Pedro Rivera) reached to invite me to participate in this album that produce with Chalin’s songs. I thought it was such an exciting idea and of course, it was an honor to include my song. It has been more than three years from our first meeting now published by Rigo Campos. We are intercepted with the public response. Unfortunately I never met Chalino. There was a moment when he had a press conference in Tijuana, but we were busy to work and we can’t go. I wanted to thank him for filming my song, but the opportunity never came. Now, through technology, we managed to get him back to life in the video and it’s like it’s really with us. It was a huge effort of teams in Cintas Acuario and Master K Music to happen. The hardest part brought Chalin’s essence to the present, but they hooked him up.

Why do you think Chalino’s legacy filed so many years after his death?

Chalino had this unique ability to know the famous songs and make them their characteristic style. That made him so successful. Of course, he was also very criticized, but people could not ignore his authenticity. He did not try to imitate anyone – he was born to be the original, and therefore still such a mass influence in Nortel and Banda Music. The production of this song was such a fulfilled experience. Listening to his voice straight from the original cassettes, you realize how powerful it is. He did not need a spare vocal; It was naturally in line and simply amazing. Then, then there was no technology we have now, so it heard that it was really especially special. The recording of this duet with him now feels like a dream. It didn’t happen before, but it happens – and that’s important.

What do you think about current bands and Corridos restrictions in Mexico?

We love Cordos, but we also respect the rules in every place we perform. We understand the situation. The problem is not with the co-power; There are wider social issues in the game. I think the authorities have good intentions and always follow any rules or restrictions. For example, on our recent show in Auditorio Telmek in Guadalajari, we are not allowed to perform any corridives. Of course, some fans wanted to hear them, but we respect the law. At the end of the day, the law is the law and we must follow him as citizens. Where we are allowed to perform Corridos, we will. Where we aren’t, we’ll just play “La Chona” three times or “El Tucanazo” or “Me Gusta Vivir de Noche.” We have a lot of songs in our repertoire.

Speaking of “La Chona”, it became the main hit and played in many sports events. Do you have plans for use during the World Cup?

As a composer “La Chona”, it is such an honor and privilege to see it still strong. Every day we get videos from all over the world people dancing and singing to it. When we filmed him for the first time, I didn’t like it so much, I preferred others. But it carved his place and now, more than 30 years later, the new generations still love her. For the World Cup, we work on a project that I think the fans will love. In the meantime, this year we go to Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala and Bolivia, and next year we will lead music to Spain. Europe becomes so important market for regional Mexican music.

A few days ago, you played over 100,000 people. Why Los Tucanes still draw a big crowd?

I think we deserve the love of our fans through our music and the way we are. Los Tucanes are one of these groups that can do it all – romantic songs, Corridos, Cumbias – Me mix Norten music with other genres. I think that’s why we have such a special place in people’s hearts. There are also people who adults listened to our music, but we would never see us live, so they come to our shows now. And so it is touching to see more generations of our concerts – parents, children, even grandparents. It’s such a blessing.
