The first trailer for “Spying on stars“The latest feature with Acclaited Sri Lankan Movie Vimukthi JaiaasundaraIt premiered premiered in competition in competition 30. Busan International Film Festival.
SCI-Fi drama, France / India / Sri Lanka co-production, follows the scientist Anandi while visiting Hanuman island to perform the last rites for his father. Posted in a dystopian future that is incorporated “Illvibe” – a pandemic caused by the dominance of the machine – Anandi is found in quarantine in a remote hotel in which the mysterious star begins to follow it. Eventually escapes and seeks refuge with Mother and her transgender daughter.
“I decided to construct ‘Illvibe”, the disease of the future in technology and devices for the narrative of all today, and in the future, “Jaiaasundara says,” says Jaiaasundara in the statement.
Film stars Indira Tivari, Hidayath Hazare, Saumia Liana, Samanalee Fonseka, Shreepura Mithra and Kaushalia Fernando. Eeshit Narain serves as director of photography, with music Alokananda Dasgupta.
Jaiaasundara was founded as the main voice in an international cinema, especially conquering the camera d’or in Cannes for his debut, “Forsaken Land” (2004). His later films, including “between two worlds” (2009), were reviewed at prestigious festivals, including Cannes, Venice, Locarno and Toronto.
“Spi-stars’ is the liberation film that is spiritual in nature,” the director explains. “It asks one question: at the time of spreading voyeurism and technological control, how do we keep our humanity?”
The film was presented by the house in the fire, Eleenora paintings and the production of the Film Council, with the world sales handled by Diversity Bangkok. BIFF passes 17. September.
