Hermeto PascoalThe eccentric and fertile Brazilian multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger known as “the wizard of sounds” and “Crazy Genius” died. He was 89 years old.
“With serenity and love, we announce that Hermeto Pascoal was transferred to a spiritual area, surrounded by family and road musicians,” His family said in the statement at the end of Saturday (13. September) on Instagram.
The statement did not provide the cause of death or say where he died.
Pascoal was a currently a distinctive figure with a man’s white hair and a thick beard. He created music that is defiant fixed label and mixed Jazz, Samba, Brazilian popular music (MPB), Bossa Nova, Chorinho and Forro.
A superficial pianist, harmonnity and flutist, Pascoal also used more unjenned objects to produce sounds, including pints of beer, dolls, body parts, tea glasses and – perhaps most famous – live pigs.
On your album 1977 Slave massPascoal squeezed the pigs to make it slip for opening the trail. The photo of him with an animal in his arms appeared on the back cover.
He was born on June 22, 1936. year, in Alagoas, the state in Brazil’s poor northeast, his Albin’s state was allowed to escape from work in fields under sharp sun. He learned instead of playing her father’s harmonics.
At 14. years, Pascoal moved his family to the port of Refiree, where he continued to develop his skills and performed at local radio stations.

“Brazilian music and culture owe a great deal of Hermeto Pascoal,” President Luiz inacio Lula to Silva from Brazil said Saturday in X. Pascoalu “Talent and tireless creativity (…) earned international recognition and influenced the generation of musicians around the world,” he added.
Caetano Veloso said on Instagram that Pascoal was “one of the highest points in the history of music in Brazil.”
Pascoal leaves behind six children.
