Tiancardno marked and former Syracuse The female basketball star playing professional basketball in Russia, France and her motherland of Australia, died after a long battle with cancer, her family published Friday. She was 30 years old.
“We are strocated to share our beautiful Tiana Mangakahi”, her family wrote on their social media account. “She left (Thursday), surrounded by family, friends and lots of love, which has been to the lives of all she met with her kindness, streaming, pointing to the very end, show the courage and grace.”
Mangakahia was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2019. and passed through eight rounds of chemotherapy and two operations. She put her VNBA ambitions on Hamba in April and decided to return to Syracuse because of her final year eligibility.
“Syracuse Athletics mourns the passage of Tiane Mangakahi,” said Syracuza Athletic director John Wildhack in the statement. “Tiana defined the courage, inspiration and passion. All-American at the basketball court, there was even better people from the court.”

After her career at the Faculty, Mangakahia was played professionally in Russia, France and Australia. However, the new diagnosis of cancer, however, made it rest to play and go to coaching.
Sydney Kings Male Team and Sydney Flames Women’s team had a double head last year, which served as a funds for Mangakahi’s awareness. She was an assistant at the time.
“We are deeply grievous to learn the passage of Tiana Mangakahia,” Basketball Australia said in a statement. “Tiana inspired us all with her courage and resistance while facing a breast cancer. Back to court in NBL earlier this year, Spartans, was a strong reflection of her strength, determination and permanent love of the game.”
