I’ve tested this year earlier Lenovo’s 8-inch Legion Lexion Gene 3 Gaming Tablet To see how you keep as a small game to play against iPad mini. Spoiler Alert: That’s right. But shortly after testing that tablet, the player’s phone-Maker Redmagic visited himself to ask if I want to test a new toy tablet, 9-inch Astra.

After a few weeks of testing, I can certainly say that a little small tablet Lenovo remains great, Astra beat it in a pair of key areas. The most important of them is performance: it’s just straight faster than the Legion card. On the other hand, Lenovo is a better option as a small, general Android tablet, which is also great for playing (and is regularly less expensive than Astra, also). However, if the characteristics and performance play, as well as on the point of view, they are most worried, the Redmagic Astra is worth paying the premium.

Flage hardware

I enjoyed the design of the Lexion card and convinced me of the advantages of the entire form factor. Even as someone who enjoys moving players, I really don’t like to wear around the mass phone everywhere where I go, so I have a lot enough that the game wasn’t as big as Ihard, and especially the laptop, and especially the laptop is pretty great.

Astra has a fingerprint reader in the power key, but its camera also supports facial recognition.

Although something bigger, Astra still fits perfectly between space for me. It has a 9-inch screen, but Redmagić packed it in a small, elegant tablet that can literally fit into my back pocket. The design resembles an iPad mini with round edges and flat sides, but dogs are symmetrical and wide only 4.9 mm, slimmer than iPad Mini’s, which makes Apple’s lowest tablet, and apple is a tablet look.

There is also a fingerprint sensor in the power buttons, which is quite welcome, especially consideration of other premium pills like OnePlus drop 3 (or even language legs) do not have it. The front camera supports unlocking faces (only for the tablet itself) and, at 9 megapixels is perfectly fine for streaming or video chat.

The 13 megapixel single back camera is acceptable, but not much more than that. It’s ok if you need to use it, but Redmagic was never known for its big cameras and it certainly applies here.

Redmagic is known for packing his devices with all the latest top specifications you could want, and Astra continues that trend. It drives it with a KualComm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, up to 24 GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 Storage. The basic model with 12 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage is $ 549 and similar to what you would get in Legion $ 550 Legion Gen 3 (Although regularly Legion goes to sell about $ 100 less). I tested a $ 699 ASTRA version with 16 GB of memory and 512GB of storage. Maxed-out Astra with 24 GB of RAM and 1TB storage is Hefti $ 899.

Refilling the Qualcomm processor is Redmagić’s own toy chip, Redcore R3 Pro. The idea is that R3 begs some of the tasks specific to playing from the main chipset to help maintain the highest performance and storage Snapdragon 8 elites before descending to.

The 9.1-inch OLED screen displays all your favorite games with a resolution of 2.400K1,504 pixels (331 PPIs) and a beautiful smooth refresh rate of 165Hz. It also becomes up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, which is enough more than enough light if they are caught in the sun. I’d say it’s one of the best screens I’ve seen on the tablet and fantastic for any game. (For comparison, the IPad Mini screen has a 326 PPI pixel density).

The ploter all of this is 8,200-millionmpare battery with support for up to 80-wat fast charging. I was easily passed through a few days of use with this tablet, which included an hour or two plays and another hour or two basic uses. On the CNET youtube streaming test, on average 10 hours, 32 minutes, which is good, but you will not only get it as you play only. The only side is that there are no chargers in the box, although you should be able to fill quickly with most 80-round chargers.

Soundund, Double DTS: X Ultra speakers sound pretty good for a small tablet. Of course, you don’t get a filling sound into a four-speaker room on the iPad Pro, but it is also much bigger and much more expensive device. The Astra speakers are fine for playing or streaming, but for fps or those in which each noise will be important, you will want good toys headphones.

One odd design of design

Redmagic made a rather odd choice from ASTRA with ASTRA by connecting the USB-C port towards the top of the tablet. This means that the power button is now located directly via a USB-C port, so if you try to use a USB-C controller, you will probably hit the power button when you also turned off the controller. I experienced that in my test and while it was embarrassing, I wouldn’t say it was enough to prevent me from buying it. It didn’t happen after I have a controller, and Bluetooth controllers will obviously not have this question. (Redmagic would probably appreciate to fall An additional $ 129 for your Bluetooth Gamepad Anyway.)

Also, when you use the regulator, the tablet now sits further and becomes a bit unbalanced. Again, this was not a job for me while I finished resting a tablet on the table or my lap, and I almost got even better, so I didn’t have to keep him so much. Your mileage can vary here and I understand how uncomfortable that it would be for some, but I would say you don’t knock it until you try it.

I asked Redmagic why this schedule said that the top-mounted USB-C was maintained by the charging cable to be on the way on the way as it was filled, so you still play, so you can still play while you still play. It makes sense to me and was one of the questions I had as he played on phones or other pills. Also, the laterally mounted power button was reimbursed to work with many third party play controllers who have buffer zone to avoid accidental activation. I would also be willing to bet that it was a tablet focused on player, Redmagic customer information shows that many more people play without controllers than with one.

All the performance you could want

As you could expect from Spect’s sheet, this thing just flying through everything you throw. In addition to playing, I also used it as a normal pill, which included browsing, researching new cars (I have fun), it was fun), and that was fun), and that was fun). As expected, all I did was smoothly and fast. No problem.

Obviously able to play the best games smooth is a critical part of performance, but Redmagic is all that allows you to get an absolute play experience possible on a mobile device.

All the most popular games I tried great on the highest possible framers. I consistently hit 120 frames per second on calling: mobile, and Redmagic promised support for high refresh for other popular games, including Pubg, Delta force and league legends.

Redmagic’s game software even allows you to increase frame rates in supported games like Genshin’s shock. On mobile phone, Genshin currently only pores 60fps, but ASTRA can increase the speed of staff at 120fps via the game center software.

Also, with your fast wireless wireless, streaming games through playing games or playstation Remote Play, good, making Astra really all around mobile games for mobile games.

Is that finished overwhelmed for most people? Absolutely. Is it still funny fun? Damn that.

Quick software but don’t expect updates

I was pleasantly surprised by Astra software experience outside the box. Even just a few years ago, Redmagic’s software is still very very codorous and looked like something from a bad scientific film. Recently, the company has significantly tone its software experience and now it is actually quite usable.

However, there is a decent amount of bales, but most are easily removed, and the rest is quite clean production of Android. In addition to the space of the game, it is not too different from what you would have found on most other android tablets these days. There are several translation errors scattered, but it must be much more useful than it was just a few years ago. Redmagic deserves some credit for how much progress is made.

Where it still falls foreign, it is at updates. Astra works on Android 15 and be honest, I wouldn’t expect more platform updates. From my previous experience with Redmagic devices, you will get some security updates over the next two or three years, and there is a chance to surprise the update of the platform, but the company does not give a guarantee for it, so do not keep your breath.

It is not a work offender for me, because it is primarily meant to be a gaming and entertainment, not something I would use for banking or anything. As long as the main new games that come out for the next few years run on it – and almost certainly will be too upset about the lack of update. The company was absolutely to do better about it, but I wouldn’t let it prevent you from buying it.

Also, if you are looking for a complete package of add-ons in the box, you will be disappointed. As I have already mentioned, there is no charger but Redmagic will sell you one for $ 29.90. The protector and the screen foil case are also available, for 24.90 and $ 39, but it seems to sell them quickly. And, while Astra has active pen support, Redmagić currently does not have a pen as an accessory, although it is expected to be available. There is an advantage of Lenovo Legion, because there is a charger, screen protector and folio case in the tablet and you can get a pen from Lenovo for about $ 40. There may be no performance of ASTRA, but it is a better job in that sense.

The best way to play on the go

From now on, I didn’t test any other little tablet that was better for playing from the Redmagic Astra. Lenovo Legion Gen 3 card has last year’s specifications, outdated design and only one configuration. If you can find it in sales, it’s worth it, but at $ 549, Astra is a better option.

The iPad mini has huge bezels and nowhere near Astra power, plus is more expensive. And you are stuck in Apple’s ecosystem, which has its own set of problems. More configurations of ASTRA, including the one I tested, expensive and you still need to pay for accessories if you want them. But if you are all in mobile games, there is no better device for this right now than Astra.
