Six years ago, insecure Verner Herzog made a “family Romanika, LLC”, a strange pseudo-documentary film about the Japanese service that specialized in the employment of actors to play a loved one, colleague or potential supervision. The company was real (or inspired one profiled in New Yorker), but the examples were not. Need someone to absorb the spooky of wife because of the extramarital affair without inconvenience? Just ask Family for rent to send proxy. Trying to cheat on your sometime famous father to think he’s not forgotten? The family for rent can send a “reporter” to interview it.
Maybe herzog was not so inadequate for the Japanese director at all Hikari (best known for “beef”) has recorded a film in which Brendan Fraser He embodies the American actor who struggles to get caught in Tokyo. His character, Phillip Vandarpleog, reluctantly agrees to work for the same name, accepting a gig in which he is commissioned to play “sadly American” on a man’s meloding meat funeral. In some cultures, grieved engaged to make the death of a loved one difficult. Here, a man is in an open suitcase, while actors – and probably some acquaintances in real life and go through proposals to giving Eologies, with the overall positive results that feels like that his life is really important.
In the earlier, Phillip landed the lucrative job as a mascot for the Japanese brand of toothpaste. It meant to dress in a giant tube and represents like superheroes, but people still recognize it from those ads, and the cardboard ingredient in character still dominates the small daily box of his shoe apartment. Lonely outside the word, Phillip still goes to auditions, but it’s hard to work in Tokyo, and he spends dinners looking at his neighbors, wanting to have his own. Then Agent Phillip’s agent calls with an unusual offer, although he fails to introduce him to his role, so Phillip arrives at work (Faulic funeral) does not know what is expected from him.
Companies like the rental family exist all over Japan and depending on which the client who wished, mental duties can move from the therapist to follow the right-up con human. Delayed with this first task – at one point, Phillip climbs in the coffin, as if he was wondering if his own life had value – reluctantly accepts more jobs than the rental family. But the salary is not bad and there are many more work for the White actor in this area than it is on the Japanese TV, so he reluctantly agreed. In addition, like a singing telegram or magnificent birthday clown, he makes the world a better place for his customers.
The film like a “Džender family” lives or dies on its tone, and one Hikari strike is reflected in the folds of Fraser forehead: It’s Maudlin, but it is well, but it is not above us to manipulate us for the desired emotional outcome. Phillip is too stand-alone in every part, but the film is not sufficiently crumpled to treat him like a bad actor, withholding a project of some needed humor. A practically only star that could handle this awkward mixture of honesty and sentimentality was Robin Williams, and it rarely has a film premise, making it better adapt to his skills.
If nothing else, “Rental family” reminds what Fraser worked – or not a part of the “gods and monsters”. It seems to be his own existential crisis his new brand, while working for “whales”, it is a little package In a film like this, who would really benefit from less engine interpretation.
The Phillip’s big crisis comes from the client (Shino Shinozaki) who needs someone to set up as a long-time daughter, in order to convince the Elite Private School Committee to accept young Murman (Shannon Mahina Gorman). To complicate the questions, he must convince the girl to be a real deal. If it was a different kind of movie – the installation of a large study of what was instead of independent search pictures – Phillip fell in Mia Mom, he was hired that he was hired to find it (in other words, “in other words”).
Although light on style, “Rental family” serves several thoughtful emotional moments, as Phillip decides to interpret his role with the company from his boss (“Shugun” Star Deahiro Hira). Just as an actor must enter in character, Phillip finds the right motivation for these Benignene deceptions to be good to do another. From there it is not such a big rule bending on the name of sad souls, because when it helps older colleagues “Jailbreak” from home, and potential abduction charge – to help a man fulfill the man’s unrequited desire. All of it goes well until someone sees him in a TV movie, which is somehow what Hikari’s project feels: a small screen took over cultural curiosity, which contains actor with so much to give it.
