It’s not every day to upgrade your phone, and I was so excited to trade my good loved one but outdated iPhone 11 Last Fall for Brand New iPhone 16. I was ready to channel my inner photographer with prettier cameras, don’t worry about it every night thanks to better life batteries and – very exciting for me – that I have a phone in a new barbie pink. But what I didn’t expect someone to be a new supplement would threaten me to ruin the entire experience with my brand new phone.
If you have been upgraded in the last few years from the older iPhones, you may have been surprised to see two new buttons on newer devices, the action control keys and cameras. The action button is a small button above the volume adjustment. It was introduced with iPhone 15 Pro models and is Adjustable button It can do anything to convert your bell to order your Dunkin ‘coffee to go. She is small, mammour and minds her job.
It’s a camera control button that causes all the chaos.
Camera control Is the new button on the iPhone 16 composition that does what name says: it controls your camera. It meant to help you quickly take photos and serve as a shortcut to start the application for your camera. You can climate through the MINI setting menu to adjust the camera to zoom, among other things. But there is one real reason for the existence of the button: AI.
Like any other company with technology, Apple to invest in artificial intelligence very much. Apple intelligence was the driving force for large company innovations and expect to see as the main theme on Apple’s autumn IPhone 17 event. The Call “Ave Dropping” teases what we can expect, including thinner iPhone 17 airProbably. iOS 26 It also promises to even bring even more ai to your iPhone.
But there is no major sign of Apple’s dive in AI from the camera control. It is the physical path to that Visual intelligenceThe new AI-AI-A function allows you to use the camera to scan items in the real world to get more information about them. Sounds Snaczi, but I’m completely meaningless and it’s a function I’ve never been misused to use.
Exist Cases of other use For the camera control button including ways Customize your button settingsAs my colleagues found through their testing. But it doesn’t change the fact that my camera control button is so completely boring.
It is a long button, the size of the power button, located on the lower right side of the device. And it is very easy to accidentally touch. I opened the camera while I put my phone in my pocket, while I drive and use the navigation apps and once I turned off the phone for the camera, which left the camera app for the whole night and drained my phone’s battery.
And if it didn’t get annoyed enough, every time I actually intended to open the camera over camera control, a few taps need to do so. Go figure.
While I’m enabled to control the camera enabled, my camera included stunning shots like these:
I couldn’t tell you when these photos were accidentally taken.
I ask you: What is the meaning of the button that works when you don’t need it and don’t work when you do? There are already three ways to access the iPhone camera from a lock screen that require literal seconds to use. The camera control is very expensive, a very unreliable addition of iPhone 16, everything works ai feature Many people don’t need or use. There was no time since I turned off the camera control I missed it.
I realize that my arrives in camera control are smaller complaints among what was a total positive experience with my new phone. But like AI reporter, I can’t help, but I see it as a worrying sign. So many technical companies has removed your software and devices to be attached, our Google Spamsing with Gemini Pop-US in each single Google App, a new CLILOT button on Microsoft Windows Laptopps or Apple Camera Control.
Technical companies are too eager to get in a ai train and have not enough thinking whether those features improve or just interfere with our experience using their products. And insufficiently offer the shutdown options. Fortunately for me and the camera roll, Apple makes it. But I hope in the future, such drastic measures will not be needed because companies are intentioned with their AI-enable functions.
If you want to join me in creating the camera control buttons, you can navigate to iPhone settings and select camera. Then, tap on camera control. Within the camera control, select accessibilityand then Switch the camera control. If you experience hyper sensitivity, you can set how much faucets (and pressure required) to start the button in the same vacation page of accessibility press force.
