Berlin Swing Musician David Hermlin says he’s been turned after being excluded from some Leading Jazz Festivals in Europe and accused of intimidation at a meeting organized by the pro-Palestinian group.
The 25-year-old said Fox News Digital, her only actions asked two questions and carrying a yellow PIN solidaric hostage still in Gaza.
“I didn’t disturb anyone or intimidate. I just asked two questions I thought they were legitimate,” Hermlin said.
Familiar in social media as “Daveetheevave“Hermlin built a reputation not only because of his music, but for his picture. It dresses in the authenticated 1930s, complete with wedge hair, vintage microphone and gray-skinned-like carbon.

The appearance corresponds to the sound. He sings classics like “I fall in love” backed with my own big band, The Swing Dance OrchestraThis creates a golden era of swinging to the last detail. His yellow pin for the tape, carried neatly on the reverse of that adjusted suit, at this year’s festival, was becoming a patent point in the controversy side.
Hermlin’s experience asks questions about free speech in the world of fun. The environment is its case as part of a wider historical form of exclusion.
“What is this all this to do now before I can play at the festival, I have to give a political statement? It is a music festival, not a political festival,” he said.

Herra-dance camp in Sweden is considered one of the world’s most famous world festivals. At this year’s gathering, the group is called Jazz with Palestine held an open meeting. Hermlin performed as a drummer with another ensemble, not his orchestra.
He later learned that the organizers were not only excluded from the mosque sessions on the group, but it is clear that they are clearly considering the reservation of his personal projects, such as a swing dance orchestra.
“I went with the only intention to just listen to their concerns and, if possible, I have a dialogue,” Hermlin explained.
In Jazz with Palestin meeting, he enrolled in two questions. He wanted to know where monetary donations would be directed and what the articles of Arabic songs were used for choreography. The stock market later requested complaints on his “frightening presence”.
“The first question was, if I want to donate some money, where do the donations go?” Hermlin reminded himself. “The other was, what is the meaning of the Arabic song? They said they didn’t know. I asked,” Shouldn’t it be nice to know before we record choreography? “”

He said he was stunned when a board member said some present were uncomfortable.
Hermlin also faced criticism for wearing a small yellow ugly needle, which symbolizes solidarity with 50 hostages that Hamas still held. The festivals proposed that PIN was inflammation or political propaganda. Hermlin rejects that characterization.
“People emphasized my yellow PIN and said,” Maybe people are aggressive because of your name. “I asked them,” Do you know what that means? “They said no,” he said. “This needle is about the hostages. It’s about empathy.”
After Herrang, Hermlin said that other festivals began to throw him out of their compositions while holding their band. “I’m the only one off. Not the band, just me,” he said. “He told me the festival”, don’t take it in person, you will get a cancellation fee. “But how is it not personal?”

Fox News Digital reached Jazz with Palestine for Comment, but did not receive an answer. On its website and social media, the Group describes as the movement of jazz and swing dancers across Europe that uses music, dance and political action to stand with Palestinian people.
His statement about the mission says the group increases consciousness and resources and that Jazz is rooted in “fighting racial and colonial oppression.” The group recently promoted the efforts of collecting humanitarian groups in Gaza and announced plans for social dance events and educational forums.
Hermlin says the treatment is reminiscent of McCarthy EUR and the history of own family in Berlin during the 1930s. It also indicates the history of the Swing World.
“It reminds me of McCarthy Era, when the artists pressed to declare whether they are communists. If you said yes, you boycotted,” he said. “They did it in front of the photos Miller, Frankie Manning and Nicholas Brothers, artists are excluded in the 1930s. How ironic is it?”
He also states Benny Goodman, a Jewish clarinetist who became a “king of swings” and defied by segregation by employing black musicians such as Teddy Wilson, Lionel Hampton and Charlie Christian.
“As Benny Goodman pointed in the 1930s, the swing was about inclusion. It’s his soul,” Hermlin said.
Despite falling out, Hermlin promises to continue playing.
“I had no choice but to talk. Music should unite or share,” he said.

“I never wanted to drag myself into politics. I’m a swing musician, not a politician – my instrument is drums, not a political statement.
“My way of fighting back is to keep. I’ll do it. I’ll always finish my concerts, saying,” Don’t forget, keep swinging. “And I mean that.”
